Last week, our Kindergarten, First, and Second grade friends got to hear the first Armadillo book of the year! Our K-2 students will hear 10 different books throughout the year that are nominated for the Armadillo Reader Award. In May, they will vote for their favorites. I can't wait to see which book is the winner!
Our first book was How to Read a Story by Kate Messner. The story was great for our beginning of year lessons, as the students were reminded of all the great things to do when reading a story. We talked about using clues on book covers to make predictions about what might happen in the story. We also talked about how important it is to have your reading voice match the characters and emotions within the story. I'm excited to see the students making predictions about their books and reading with great expression!
