We had a very successful Book Fair! Thank you so much to those who supported our library! Even with the excitement of the Book Fair, I was looking forward to getting back to our usual library routines, and boy was it an exciting week!
Kindergarten came in and heard the story Drum Dream Girl by Margarita Engle. This is another one of our Armadillo Reader books this year. After reading the story, we watched a video about a girl playing the drums, then things got noisy! Thanks to our wonderful music teachers, we were able to borrow some hand drums and play our own rhythms. We had a blast!

First graders did some deep thinking about character feelings this week. After reading the story Hooway for Wodney Wat by Helen Lester, students used the iPads to create silly videos that express one way Wodney was feeling and how they knew that he was feeling that way. They were really able to hone in on their character analysis skills, while having fun making cute videos.

Third grade got to use the iPads to practice their addition and subtraction problem solving. The Thinking Blocks app helped them organize the information from a word problem first, then solve. It really helps them understand when to add or subtract!

Finally, our fifth graders came in and applied their recently learned ordering decimal skills! They first learned why the Dewey Decimal System exists and how it works, then were able to use their ordering skills to play the Shelve-It game, an opportunity for students to practice shelving books. This is a skill that Mrs. Heidi and I use everyday, and something that will be very helpful in the future!

All classes were able to come in and get new books...it's always fun to see what the students choose!
It's a great day to be a Wolf at the Best School in Texas!
